What is the Scottish Rite Education Program?

The Scottish Rite Education Program  is a new educational program making it's way across the Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite. Part of the mission statement of the Scottish Rite is a promise to further Masonic Light, also called Masonic Knowledge.  The Supreme Council along with the Lubbock Scottish Rite has been working hard to develop an education program that answers all the questions you or other Masons may have.

This program along with the Master Craftsman Program, a series of study lessons, are being developed to teach the symbolism, purpose and lessons of all 33 degrees. This education program is designed for all Masons: from the youngest E.A. to the most experienced of Masons.

Learning Objectives

This program introduces the participants to the concept of symbolism in Freemasonry and discusses the purposes of initiation.

At the end of this program the participant should be able to:

  • Define the difference between a sign and a symbol and explain their importance in Freemasonry.
  • Describe the symbolism of the Masonic lodge.
  • Explain the purpose and symbolism of initiation.
  • List two approaches to initiation.
  • Discuss the use of the candidate preparation room.
